Ignorance Is Bliss? An All-white weekend...boom boom....

Isn't it lovely not drowing in coffee
Footloose and fancy free

Feet warm and heart still
No need to swallow a bitter pill

Drinks and merriment at the theatre watching Jason Donovan
No traumatic texts or strained cries of get in there son!

A sexy Saturday watching Priscilla
Plush seat instead of a plastic seat fixed on to a concrete knee killer

Okay I know I say no pain no gain
But I can't really complain

When Dad says he doesn't want to go to the Birmingham clash
Our form is as dodgy as Bobby Ball's 'tache

We'll come good some day
Plenty of football left to play

Just not expecting that to turn up at Elland Road too soon
Think we should start praying besides the moon

If only passionate support was the currency of success
I know we seem to be a bit of a manic mess

One minute we've turned a corner only to crumble at the next
I don't want to insult Brian McDermott's intellect

Surely he knows what's required
Excuses are getting old and tired

Like too many legs clogging around that pitch
The boardroom fickle fingers may start to twitch

Yet they've got to share the burden of blame
Let's make Elland Road a fortress again

Back the boss both on and off the turf
It's time for both boss and boardroom to prove their worth!

Ranting Ross And The Pathetic Penalty? Who Cares! A Win's A Win!!!

Ahhh Ross.... hes a bit of a poor mans Viduka, when hes on his game hes a crowd pleaser scoring for fun, when hes not hes a sulky barndoor. In his defence, up to the pen miss he was having a half decent game, even Warnock first half seemed to hv turned a corner, Hunt tries but it just wasn't happening between him and McCormack. We lack killer instinct, perhaps its a confidence thing, pace was missing til Poleon came on.. so many chances to bury the game in 1st half. You could tell McDermott was desperate for the win when he was anxious to do a double substitution just before Poleon's strike. Don't let the marvel of Mowatt mask our familiar frailties but a welcome win against a side that were about our level. They defended like mad at 1-1 and the replacement goalie was impressive, a poor double header give away involved in their goal however... considering for much of the game we had the extra man advantage there was a worrying lack of urgency and a better side would've punished us and used their superior height to better effect but in the end the pressure told.
Not a bad crowd, just over 21,700 witnessed a half decent game with a fussy, irritating ref, Austin was his usual abrasive yet convincingly commandeering self, Warnock pleasingly workmanlike,Mowatt looks like another star in the making from our fruitful, fantastic academy (hands off Norwich better be written in blood in his contract lol) we know our weaknesses.. as predictable as our lack of transfer activity.. but this win will hopefullygive the side a kick up the bum. Derby coming back from 4-0 down vs Ipswich shows that we'll be up against a doggedly determined team keen to impress their new manager, Mr Wally with a Brolly. Lets hope its raining goals for the right reasons on Saturday!

Uncomfortably Numb

I guess that result rendered me uncomfortably numb
Heyho you win some you lose some

Just another bad day at the office again
Suppose Tia Maria on Ice with strictly dulls the pain

Just not good enough but money needs to be spent
Hmmm Bournemouth in midweek...not feeling confident

Premiership support but league one hoofball on the pitch
This is not just a slight glitch

In McDermott we trust but he needs backing
Quality is seriously lacking

Wheres the wingman what of the firepower?
Don't mention the defence..bit of a wilting wallflower!

We'll take winning ugly but not losing lamely
What's been happening to us lately?

Brian's a quietly assured geezer
But we need an entertaining crowd pleaser

Something to get the crowd back
Otherwise McBaldy's heading for the sack.....

Rambling On Together... A Point's A Point And All That Stuff...

4pts isn't too shabby a return for games consisting of two teams that were in the promotion mix last term and a fierce local rival who played like a wounded animal at times. However, the lack of seemingly natural wingers are a concern and I hear you about 'same old same old' in defence; Lacklustre Lees and Wobbly Warnock seem to be more 'chuckle brothers' than 'defensive dependables'

Whether or not Diouf will be sacrificed to sort the lack of width or turn up the screw on the shot shy striker scenario ...there's other issues to consider.
How much investment has Brian been promised? What of Sam Byram's comeback from injury? Is Dom Poleon better as an eager beaver chomping at the bench wood? He seemed to fade away yesterday and perhaps tried too hard, the enthusiasm boiled over into schoolboy stuff at times. Creativity may be lacking, character is certainly not, fair play to Jason Pearce he put in a shift, Austin has been rejuvenated since being made captain, jury is out on Peltier but he has moments of 'war horse' tenacity. See, there in lies the problem, in these early days of the season, it's all too evident the inconsistencies in performances stifling real progress. Money to be spent, selections to be pondered, formations to be tweaked (Does Ross actually know/understand his role in the team? Who should be up front? Who is best behind the striker? Hunt? Poleon? A new face? Is Varney still Barndoor?)
But overall...quietly optimistic if anyone can polish this "rough" diamond formation and rally the troops it's Brian 'I've got a Masterplan' McDermott!

Dirty Leeds Ditty

A Dirty Leeds Ditty

Adodgy defence is nothing new
But I trust Brian knows what to do

Warnock was a bit wobbly
Sorry to be picky

But I'm not sold on Varney
Apologies to his army

Ross isn't as good as some think
Yet Matt Smith and Murphy may link

To spark some creativity
Great to see a buzzing crowd full of positivity

There'll be ups and downs as ever
But I was proud to shout...sing Marching On Together

In the East Stand with a frog grating the throat
Certainly didn't need a scarf or coat

We tried to pass the ball
Not too sure about the handball call

But whatever ..Brighton were slick
They were at times lightning quick

Had their moments to shine
But it was us that capitalised in extra time

As they lost the plot...
Dom Poleon maybe deserved an earlier shot

Yet he and others could be bullied off the ball
Matt Smith aside, not many of our lads are beefcakes or tall

We miss the va va voom of Viduka and the (selfish) brilliance of Beckford to me
Not too sure McCormack-Varney tapped into one anothers psyche

It'll take time to suss out the side
For now I'll take heart, take pride

In a new Lufc with guts and fire
Owners visible and showing desire

On and off pitch they're learning the past is the past
Hopefully building mew foundations engineered to last

Today was like a dream
Was that really my team?!

Ok there were moments of going backwards
But never mind..onwards!!

Three points we took from a bogey team what a thrill
A winner from a £1m man yes Chelski Bates swallow that bitter pill!

He's out of our club and we're rising from the ashes
There'll be more testing, bruising clashes

For now I'll savour the victory
What will be will be...

What's This?! A Positive Post!!!

Big Bad Bates is out the door
Yorkshire Radio is no more
Slimy Shaun Harvey is somehow Football League Chair
They've got some screws loose there!...
A few drifting deadwood

If we shift them soon that'd be good
I don't need to name and shame but brutish Brown and disastrous Danny Pugh
Aside from sticking the boot in & bench warming what do they do?!
Bye bye route one hoof and no hope
Good riddance to a dippy defence as slippery as soap
McDermott is steadying the ship
Hell, even a Codhead mate has made us his tip

To finally end our exile
And return to football's top pile
Lots to do, wingers, proven goalscorers to be hired
But buoyant Brian's bullish positivity has to be admired
It'll take more than Red Bull to give the team wings
Some Saudi guy may mix up a few things
Yet what'll make the difference is clarity and passion from the boardroom suited to the fans in the stands
We don't want playoffs or promotion also-rans

We need to win this outright
Roll up the sleeves and fight
Strap yourselves in
Let's start the journey with a win!

Hopes and Dreams....Fortress Elland Rd Needs To Regroup!

I have felt just a little guilty about the lack of blogging, match attendance and general feeling of being uncomfortably numb about a bitterly disappointing feeling of "bah mid table mediocrity..I saw it coming!" Yet McDermott's appointment has given a feeling of fresh hope. He's taken a leap into the unknown by his own admission, perhaps us fans should do the same and just go with it.. splashing the cash and bold statements mean nothing without a loyal, steadfast support but ticket prices and recent announcements on rebranding of membership packages mean the cynical amongst us aren'tquire ready to dip the toes back into the shark infested waters of damned if we do damned if we dont school of fandom!

Personally a mix of youth and experience, commitment and a quietly reassured, sensible head at the helm will be a refreshing change. Such a wide gaping daunting hole between championship winning support and premiership quality football. Money gets you so far but passion, pride and ability nudges it further long term. The trouble with Leeds is we've banked on past reputations, old glories, to stoke the fires of all too often disappointing and doomed campaigns.
Too many egoes, not enough support from the men in the suits...

Marching onwards and upwards!

Sam Byram should not be our only hope
The ups and downs of Elland Rd more crazy than a badly written soap
Our ageing midfield and dodgy defence clearly can't cope
All that glitters is not always gold
The tales of Billy Bremner and the Champions league days are growing old
We can't expect a quick fix or a cure all
Although there is life beyond eleven men and a ball
No doubting us fans are desperate for success
Next season its champions and nothing less
Yet wait a moment lets retrack
It's patience we lack
Trigger happy is not the way
Although I do not want a repeat of Neil Warnocks idea of play
Lets give McDermott our support
Not every trophy can be bought
Lets keep the faith and be proud
Sing out loud
For our time will come before too long
Just got to be thick skinned and strong
Look forward not back
I know it's a tough ask
We respect the past
It was a blast
Yet tomorrow is a new day
Lets give a chance for Brian to show us a new way

Taxi for Warnock!

You're nothing special we lose every week
Think our defence is springing quite a leak

Austin couldn't park a double decker
Ref's performance isn't much better

Home fans sound like they're in a library
Gulf in class is not difficult to see

Marching on regardless but the fans deserve a break
How much more humiliation can those broad shoulders take?

Good humour in decent voice
Yet the faithful are begging GFH to make the right choice

James Milner is a Leeds lad
So for him Id be glad

But this cup run has been a weapon of mass distraction
The patience is starting to crack a fraction

The football is uglier than Tevez on the pull
Hoof and (no hope) football scenario is painfully dull

Not sure if Adkins is our man
Or perhaps luring MK Plastics Robinson is our master plan?

Yet again the problems run deep
But let's not lose sleep

Even at this level they're paid well
Whether the board will earn their keep well time will tell...

Hats off to the diehards
Change is on the cards

Onwards Upwards!

The Magic Of The Cup

The sun shone and melted the heart
Brutish bully Brown blew Tottenham tactics apart

Brilliant Byram had Bale in his sight
Each member of the team huffed and puffed with all their might
Endeavour, crowd energy excitement burned bright

We all marched forward with strength
The wizardry of Lennon kept at arms length
Wasteful shots and no end product
For a classic cup tie pretty Premier footy got stuck

Lost in a sea of hoof and hope
The southerners couldn't cope!
AVB was on the slippery slope...

What a cracker from Luke Varney
How wildly they celebrated the Whites army!
A thunderbolt, a terrific tsunami

There was no stopping the wonderful Whites
Even though Spurs' slick passing gave us the frights
We finished the game with the bragging rights

Oh McCormack you beauty!
But lets not forget every player did their duty
Are we up for Man Citeh?! Absolutely!!!

Peltier was a powerhouse at the death
The injured skipper barely paused for breath
Contrast with petulant prat Parker - what a pest!

Wish the real Leeds would stand up in the league
Lets hope this performance has sowed the seed
Of positivity, promise and a steely will to succeed

Goodbye sorry Spurs
Bring on the sheep botherers
The so called sleeping giant stirs....
